"We are seeing kids with kidney disease, sleep apnea, arthritis" - all the health problems typically associated with fatty acid ester adults, he said. "Another new one that is very frightening is fatty acid ester non-alcoholic fatty acid ester fatty liver disease. Because of your weight, you get a build-up of fat in your liver. In some people, that fat can cause inflammation in the liver." Skelton said the medical community "is thinking that this is the number one cause" for liver transplants in adults. "And there have now been two children in Texas that were transplanted because of fatty liver disease." Skelton said children are becoming overweight because of inactivity more than diet.
