Martha Wainwright was spawned from a truly eclectic gene pool. comedy I've been a fan of her father, Loudon Wainwright III since I was a music student in the 60's & 70's, as I comedy was of her mother, Kate McGarrigle and her sister Anna. Martha seems to have drawn heavily from her father's influence as a wry, tongue-in-cheek songwriter. She moves from angst to anticipation in this EP, making her point, and her feelings known in very short order with B.M.F.A., the title cut. Continuing with I Will Internalize, she takes the comedy next step in the degeneration of a relationship, denial and self-deprecation. Hope and acceptance come to the forefront with When The Day Is Short. It's Over takes us into the realm of the rebound relationship and the realization that we shouldn't look for love when we're at an emotional ebb. The EP concludes with How Soon, written by Carroll Lucas & Jack Owens, first performed by Owens, but made famous by Frank Sinatra.
