It's been said by those of us outside America that we hate the American government, we don't hate the American people. That was true. In 2000, Bush did not win the popular vote. He campaigned on a platform of compassionate conservatism and uniting the country. Americans who did vote for Bush can hardly be blamed for not realising what they were voting for. As far as I'm concerned, cast away all that changed yesterday.... The American people looked at cast away the record of Bush and decided it was worthy of re-election. Hope that Move On and the other other groups have the foresight and money to start next week with spot ads that remind everyone what these guys said and every time they fuck up or every time they act as if they got an overwhelming mandate to act in their own interests
